Book Reviews

I am sorry I havent been on for such a long time, but I have been super busy.
I have however finished reading two wonderful books that I thought i would share with you all:

Yesterday I finished reading the debut novel 'Foundling Wizard' by James Eggebeen Author This is a truly captivating book and a must read for everyone

'Foundling Wizard' is the debut novel by James Eggebeen.
After reading the title I was intrigued and wanted to read it.
As I read I became engrossed in the story and wanting to find out more that I just couldnt put it down.
The story is of a boy called Lorit and how he discovers his powers and has to leave his home to go on a journey of discovery.
I wont give away the plot but there are lots of twists in it and you feel like you are taking part in the journey with all its ups and downs.
It is definitely a must read, it will leave you wanting more. I am definitely looking forward to reading the sequel and finding out answers to the questions I have.

Another book I recently finished and totally loved is 'Ever Shade (A Dark Faeire Tale #1) by Alexia Purdy. What an amazing read. I was totally enthralled that I had to get the second in the series; which I am now reading :)

With this book you jump in with two feet straight from the off set.
It has you gripped straight away. I absolutely loved it and have gone and downloaded the second, which I cant wait to read.
I highly recommend this to everyone.

Saturday 21 July 2012

I was recently interviewed for a friends website. Please check it out http://tinyurl.com/c59tykl
The second in the Erin the fire goddess series is coming along nicely.
My daughters best friend wanted to be in the book so I have used her name and her sisters.
I read the little bit I wrote to my daughter and she loves it. I cant wait to see Charley's reaction :)
Sorry I haven't posted for so long.
On Thursday 19th July I gave my first ever author talk.
OMG I was sooooo nervous.
17 people turned up for it and I read 2 segments from  Erin the fire goddess: the beginning and I also gave a sneak peek at the second book in the series Erin the fire goddess: betrayal
As a request from one of the people who attended, the library would now like me to do another one for them in 3 months, but in the evening. They would also like me to do some around Edinburgh and Midlothian libraries too.
Hopefully over time my nerves will stay at home and I will become and old pro at it :)

Name googling

Since publishing my first book I find myself googling my name.
Its been good as I have found some cheeky people out there trying to sell my book on ebay for a huge profit. Luckily after some detective work I have managed to track down their phone number and get them to remove it.
Well today I typed in my name and this came up http://www.midlothianadvertiser.co.uk/community/gorebridge-mum-s-debut-novel-published-1-2391494

I am totally chuffed and I thought I would share it with you lovely people :)

Photographer visit

Today a photographer came round to take pictures of me and my girls.
The article about my book should be in the advertiser this week. I am so excited. I think I will buy lots of copies and send them down to England to friends and family :)
I havent actually wrote in the last couple of days. I have been so busy, and now my eldest daughters best friend has come to stay with us, so things have been hectic. Still my daughters friend keeps asking if i have finished the second book yet. Giving me totally positive vibes :)

Friday 29 June 2012

Yesterday I was kind of having a dilemma.
My books are teen fiction, and I was trying to decide whether or not to mention or insinuate sexual references, but after speaking to my husband I decided I will steer clear. Mainly because my eldest child is only 11 and she loves reading my work and eventually my 5 year old will read it and as a mother I wouldn't want my child reading  anything like that, until they of an appropriate age.
I know my eldest has read Twilight and there has been subtle references, but done in a way that is okay. So maybe in one of my later books I may subtly mention something but its hard to know how to write it.

Thursday 28 June 2012

This is my very first blog. Up until today you could say I was a virgin blogger and today I've popped my cherry.
You will need to bare with me as I have no idea what I am suppose to do, but I am sure I will pick it up in no time :)
I am the author of the book series ' Erin the fire goddess' back in May my first book of the series 'the beginning' became available on the kindle and then a month later it became available on paperback.
What a brilliant feeling and the feedback I have received from those who have read my work has been amazing and I am truly touched for all the kind words and support.
Presently I am writing the second in the series, which is called 'betrayal'. I currently do not have an exact date for its release, but I will definitely keep you posted.
If you have not yet visited my facebook page for the book then please take yourself along and like it please :)

On Thursday the 19th July from 2pm to 3pm I will be giving an Author talk at my local library in Gorebridge. I am really nervous as this will be my first one. Luckily I will know most of the people there (if anyone comes lol)
My children's head teacher has also asked if I would be willing to give a talk to the school after the summer holidays. I suppose by then I maybe an old pro at it ;)
On Monday I have a photographer and reporter coming to my house to take pictures for an article they are doing about myself and my book. I am really excited but I hate having my picture taken, but needs must if I want to sell my book :)
Anyway I think this little blog will do for today. I will try and post regularly and hopefully have something more interesting to say next time :)

Thanks for reading.
